Going for six in a row, today's lineups

← return to Nationals Watch

The Nationals have an opportunity tonight to win their sixth game in a row tonight for the first time since September 2009.

I know that doesn’t sound like an extremely significant amount of time, and it’s only a season and a half, but that means that the Nationals didn’t have a single six-game game winning streak in the entire 2010 season. That’s pretty rare.

They’ll need to beat Cardinals right-hander Kyle Lohse, who tossed a complete game last time he faced the Nationals, thwarting a possible Nats series victory in St. Louis.

They’re sticking with what works, in regard to the lineup, as they go for No.6. Right fielder Jayson Werth continues to hit leadoff and, like Wednesday, Ian Desmond will hit ninth behind pitcher John Lannan. Ryan Zimmerman continues to bat third with former leadoff man Roger Bernadina dropped to second in the order.

Here’s the full lineup as John Lannan looks for his fifth straight solid outing. In his last four starts combined, Lannan has allowed just two earned runs.

Here are the full lineups:

Jayson Werth RF
Roger Bernadina CF
Ryan Zimmerman 3B
Laynce Nix LF
Michael Morse 1B
Danny Espinosa 2B
Wilson Ramos C
John Lannan P
Ian Desmond SS
