Looking for seven straight, Nationals sticking with same formula: today's lineups

← return to Nationals Watch

The Nationals have a chance to win their seventh game in a row tonight so if you were expecting them to alter the lineup construction that has gotten them the past six wins, you’d be barking up the wrong tree — as the expression goes.

A few of the names have changed places but nothing dramatic and with the Nationals facing a left-hander in rookie Zach Britton, some shuffling was to be expected. Ian Desmond is back in the second spot in the lineup, behind Jayson Werth, with Michael Morse hitting cleanup behind Ryan Zimmerman and Danny Espinosa and Wilson Ramos following in order.

Jerry Hairston Jr. gets the start in left field against the lefty and with Rick Ankiel still sidelined, Roger Bernadina will hit ninth behind pitcher Jason Marquis and play center field.

Here are the full lineups:

Jayson Werth RF
Ian Desmond SS
Ryan Zimmerman 3B
Michael Morse 1B
Danny Espinosa 2B
Wilson Ramos C
Jerry Hairston Jr. LF
Jason Marquis P
Roger Bernadina CF
