ANAHEIM, Calif. — Davey Johnson slipped on a uniform with No. 5 on the back Monday afternoon, taking the number once designated for manager Jim Riggleman and Giants manager Bruce Bochy has now also officially replaced Riggleman on the National League All-Star staff.

Riggleman, who considers Bochy a close friend, was selected for the staff earlier this season but he was no longer eligible to participate once he tendered his resignation to the Nationals last Thursday.

Bochy has replaced Riggleman with Cubs manager Mike Quade, per MLB release.

Here’s an excerpt from that release:

National League All-Star manager Bruce Bochy of the San Francisco Giants today announced that Chicago Cubs manager Mike Quade will replace former Washington Nationals manager Jim Riggleman as a coach at the 82nd All-Star Game, to be played on Tuesday, July 12th at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona. Quade, who is in his first season as manager of the Cubs, will join Arizona Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson and San Francisco’s coaches – Tim Flannery, Mark Gardner, Roberto Kelly, Hensley Meulens, Dave Righetti and Ron Wotus – on Bochy’s All-Star staff.

In other Jim Riggleman news, the former Nats manager is expected to serve as a guest analyst this weekend on CSNChicago for the Cubs-White Sox broadcast.
