VIERA, Fla. — Ryan Zimmerman spent roughly 20 minutes on the field at Space Coast Stadium this morning taking grounders and working on throwing across the diamond to first, making shorter throws to second base and then charging the ball and throwing to first.

None of it aggrivated the sore groin he’s been nursing for the past 10 days and the third baseman said he expects to be in the lineup on Friday when the Nationals welcome St. Louis to Viera for the team’s first meeting since the benches cleared on Monday in Jupiter.
