Your 2011 Washington Nationals 25-man roster

With opening day just three days away now, there’s one spring training game left to play and the Nationals will be on their way north.

They went a long way toward defining the roster of players they’ll be bringing with them, optioning Roger Bernadina, Collin Balester and Ross Detwiler to Triple-A Syracuse, and assigning Brian Bixler to minor league camp on Monday.

Those moves mean both Laynce Nix and Matt Stairs have locked up spots on the Nationals’ bench and Rule 5 pick Brian Broderick will get his first chance in the big leagues as a member of the team’s relief corps.

By officially putting right-handers Chien-Ming Wang and Elvin Ramirez on the 60-day disabled list and Henry Rodriguez on the 15-day DL, it also leaves the Nationals with just one more 25-man roster decision to make: Alberto Gonzalez or Alex Cora as the team’s utility infielder.

Including Chad Gaudin, who was a non-roster invitee, with Nix, Stairs and possibly Cora, a quarter of the Nationals’ 25-man roster will be made up of four non-roster invitees and a Rule 5 pick.
