Nix gets eighth straight start: today's lineups

ATLANTA — After crushing a three-run home run into right field Tuesday night, Laynce Nix found himself back in the Nationals lineup for an eighth straight game Wednesday afternoon, the 14th start of the season for the left-hander who signed a minor league deal with the team this offseason and made the club out of spring training as a fourth outfielder.

Nix, who has displayed absolutely devastating power, has already, in just 62 at-bats, hit as many home runs this season (4) as he did all of last year with the Cincinnati Reds. He’s played well enough to warrant his continued presence in the starting lineup, however, the amount of playing time he’s gotten recently has been aided by the fact that Michael Morse is nursing a sore right knee.

Here is the full Nationals lineup behind left-hander John Lannan tonight.

The Braves lineup had not been posted as of 3:30, likely waiting to hear if shortstop Alex Gonzalez and his sore groin checked out OK after an early workout on the field.

Nationals:

Roger Bernadina CF
Ian Desmond SS
Jayson Werth RF
Adam LaRoche 1B
Wilson Ramos C
Laynce Nix LF
Danny Espinosa 2B
Jerry Hairston Jr. 3B
John Lannan P
