The Nationals vs. today's starter: RHP Jake Arrieta

BALTIMORE — As will be a trend this weekend as the Nationals begin Interleague play for the 2011 season, most of the pitchers they’re facing will be unknown. They’ve certainly watched video on them but few have ever faced them in person.

The first example of that will be tonight when they face right-hander Jake Arrieta. Arrieta has been one of the Orioles best starters this season, working to a 5-1 record with a 4.03 ERA.

Arrieta, now in just his second year in the major leagues, has faced just four members of the Nationals 25-man roster.

Here are the Nationals’ career numbers against him:

Roger Bernadina: Never faced

Ian Desmond: 0-for-1, 1 BB

Jayson Werth: Never faced

Wilson Ramos: Never faced

Adam LaRoche: Never faced

Laynce Nix: Never faced

Danny Espinosa: Never faced

Jerry Hairston Jr.: 0-for-2

Others:

Michael Morse: 0-for-3

Ivan Rodriguez: 1-for-2 (.500), 1 RBI, 1 BB
