BALTIMORE — With the Nationals facing the first of three straight right-handed pitchers, Laynce Nix is slotted into left field and, in an attempt to break up the left-handers, Nationals manager Jim Riggleman has once again given Jayson Werth the start at cleanup.

Nix will bat in front of Werth, just as they did Thursday in New York. While it certainly didn’t do wonders for the Nationals yesterday as they worked to their 19th straight scoreless inning, it’s worth mentioning that Nix had one of the team’s three hits and Werth looked to have a fourth before he was errantly called out at first in the ninth.
