The Nationals vs. today's starter: RHP Yovani Gallardo

← return to Nationals Watch

MILWAUKEE — If the Nationals are using recent history as their guide, there’s no team they’d rather see right now than the Milwaukee Brewers — the same Brewers they swept out of Nationals Park in April. But the Nationals have lost the last five games they’ve played at Miller Park, the Brewers are winners of their last three and they own a 16-6 mark at home this season.

Still, last time the Nationals faced right-hander Yovani Gallardo, Ivan Rodriguez and Danny Espinosa both hit three-run homers and they chased him from the game after just 5 1/3 innings in the first game of a doubleheader and series sweep.

Gallardo, though, has been better since then. In his last three starts he’s thrown at least six innings and allowed two earned runs or less.

With the Nationals sending Tom Gorzelanny to the mound tonight, here’s a look at how they’ve done in the past against Gallardo:

Roger Bernadina: Never faced

Ian Desmond: 1-for-6 (.167), 1 2B, 1 K

Laynce Nix: 0-for-3, 2 K

Jayson Werth: 1-for-10 (.100), 5 K

Wilson Ramos: Never faced

Michael Morse: 1-for-2 (.500), 1 RBI

Danny Espinosa: 1-for-3 (.333), 1 HR, 3 RBI

Jerry Hairston Jr.: 1-for-10 (.100), 1 2B, 5 K

Tom Gorzelanny: Never faced

Adam LaRoche: 6-for-19 (.316), 1 2B, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 3 BB, .409 OBP, 6 K

Alex Cora: 3-for-9 (.333), 3 K

Ivan Rodriguez: 1-for-7 (.143), 1 HR, 3 RBI, 2 K

Brian Bixler: 0-for-3
