Nationals reinstate OF Rick Ankiel from DL

MILWAUKEE — The Nationals made it official this afternoon, reinstating outfielder Rick Ankiel from the disabled list, effectively filling the roster spot vacated when Adam LaRoche went on the DL Monday afternoon.

Ankiel missed 19 games in total from the right wrist sprain he suffered making a diving play in the outfield on May 2. He was hitting .221 at the time of the injury, primarily as the No. 2 hitter for the Nationals once Ryan Zimmerman was injured and Jayson Werth slid down to third.

In his rehab appearance Monday night with Double-A Harrisburg, Ankiel was 0-for-4 with four strikeouts.

He was not in the starting lineup Tuesday in Milwaukee.
