Espinosa gets a day off, Cora at 2B: today's lineups, plus how they've done vs. today's starter, RHP Dustin Moseley

← return to Nationals Watch

The Nationals and Padres have combined to score six total runs through 18 innings of baseball the past two days so it’s safe to say the pitchers have had the advantage in the contest between two of the worst offensive teams in the major leagues.

It’ll be Yunesky Maya and Dustin Moseley on the mound for the Nationals and Padres, respectively, this afternoon with Maya making his first major league start of the season.

As for the lineup behind him, it’ll be a pretty standard Nationals lineup minus Danny Espinosa who looks to be getting a routine day off. Alex Cora will get the start at second base in his place.

Here are the full lineups:

Roger Bernadina CF
Ian Desmond SS
Jayson Werth RF
Laynce Nix LF
Michael Morse 1B
Wilson Ramos C
Jerry Hairston Jr. 3B
Alex Cora 2B
Yunesky Maya P

Not very many Nationals have even faced Moseley. In fact, the only members of the starting lineup who’ve ever stepped into the box against him before are Hairston and Cora, who are both 0-for-1.

Here’s the limited numbers for the rest of the team:

Roger Bernadina: Never faced

Ian Desmond: Never faced

Jayson Werth: Never faced

Michael Morse: Never faced

Laynce Nix: Never faced

Wilson Ramos: Never faced

Jerry Hairston Jr.: 0-for-1

Alex Cora: 0-for-1

Ivan Rodriguez: 3-for-5 (.600), 1 RBI, 1 K

Matt Stairs: 1-for-2 (.500), 1 2B, 1 BB

Rick Ankiel: 0-for-2
