Espinosa fifth, Bixler in left: today's lineups

← return to Nationals Watch

With the Nationals facing left-hander Cliff Lee on a hot, steamy D.C. night tonight, manager Jim Riggleman’s running out yet another lineup combination in the hopes that his team will be able to continue the small offensive progression they’ve made the past week or so.

That said, Brian Bixler will get the start in left field tonight because he’s right-handed and Danny Espinosa takes his team-leading eight home runs to the fifth spot in the lineup behind Michael Morse at cleanup. Wilson Ramos gets the day off as Ivan Rodriguez catches and hits sixth.

Here are the full lineups:

Nationals:

Roger Bernadina CF
Ian Desmond SS
Jayson Werth RF
Michael Morse 1B
Danny Espinosa 2B
Ivan Rodriguez C
Jerry Hairston Jr. 3B
Brian Bixler LF
Jason Marquis P

Phillies:

TBA
