Washington Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman was a late scratch from the Nationals lineup Saturday afternoon due to mild right shoulder inflammation, according to a Nationals spokesman.

The cause of the injury is not known at this time but the Nationals made it clear the team doctors felt there was no structural damage to the shoulder and Zimmerman is officially listed as day-to-day.

Mark DeRosa replaced Zimmerman at third base and batting third.

After the lineups were announced, DeRosa trotted out to third base in place of Zimmerman, but the injury was not announced until the third inning.

More information to come after the game.
