Today's lineups: Tracy at third in Zimmerman's place

SAN DIEGO — Ryan Zimmerman is not in today’s lineup for the middle game of the Nationals’ three-game set with the San Diego Padres, but that was to be expected after the third baseman was sent for an MRI on his right shoulder Tuesday night.

Chad Tracy, who was essentially a starting third baseman for the Diamondbacks early on in his career, gets the start there in Zimmerman’s place. For what it’s worth, Zimmerman’s name was listed among the “available” players on the Nationals’ lineup card and it was also included in the third batting practice group — the one normally reserved for players who are not starting that night’s game.

We’ll have more information on the results of Zimmerman’s “not real favorable” MRI, and whether or not the Nationals have decided to put him on the disabled list, soon.

For now, here are the lineups for this mid-afternoon contest:

Nationals

Ian Desmond SS
Danny Espinosa 2B
Chad Tracy 3B
Adam LaRoche 1B
