Nationals-Diamondbacks lineups: Jayson Werth leads off as Tyler Moore gets start in LF

← return to Nationals Watch

PHOENIX — As expected, Bryce Harper is not in the Nationals’ lineup this afternoon as Nationals manager Davey Johnson is using the opportunity to get rookie Tyler Moore a rare start.

Moore will play left field while Jayson Werth moves into center and hits leadoff for the first time this season against Diamondbacks rookie left-hander Wade Miley.

If you missed it last night (and since it was about 3 a.m. on the east coast, we’ll forgive you) here is Johnson’s reasoning for giving Harper the day off and slotting Moore in, which he planned to do.

Here are the full lineups:

Nationals

Jayson Werth CF
Danny Espinosa SS
Ryan Zimmerman 3B
Michael Morse RF
Adam LaRoche 1B
Tyler Moore LF
Jesus Flores C
Steve Lombardozzi 2B
Edwin Jackson P

Diamondbacks

 TBA
