PHILADELPHIA — So here the Nationals are, looking to break a three-game losing streak for the first time in more than a month — and trying to avoid what would be the first sweep of them since the New York Yankees did it in June.

It won’t be easy with the Phillies sending left-hander Cliff Lee to the mound but the good news for the Nationals is that several player in their lineup have hit Lee well over the years, starting with Danny Espinosa who will lead off today.

In 13 at-bats against Lee, Espinosa has seven hits including three home runs and a double.

Unfortunately for Washington, they’ll also be missing some of their most potent bats against Lee. Michael Morse and Kurt Suzuki are both out of the lineup, Morse because his right hand is still swollen and sore and Suzuki just for a day off, ridding Lee of two batters who’ve hit .350 and .412, respectively, against him in their careers.

Jordan Zimmermann starts for the Nationals looking to break the losing skid.
