MIAMI — There was good news for the Nationals in manager Davey Johnson’s lineup Tuesday afternoon: Michael Morse and Ian Desmond were penciled into it.

Desmond, who hasn’t played since last Wednesday, spent the weekend in Philadelphia nursing a mild right hamstring strain — which possibly occurred when he hyperextended his knee late Wednesday night. Desmond took batting practice on Friday but was scratched shortly before gametime. He didn’t participate in many baseball activities for the rest of the weekend and is now working on essentially five days off which the Nationals hoped would help him put the issue behind him.

Morse, who took a pitch from Kyle Kendrick off his right hand in his first at-bat Friday night, was fortunate not to have a broken bone, but dealt with significant swelling and pain throughout the rest of the weekend.

Both players were asked on Sunday if they thought they’d be OK to play on Tuesday in Miami and both indicated they would be. That appears to be the case.

The Nationals will send Stephen Strasburg to the mound in hopes of ending their four-game losing streak.

Here are the full lineups behind him:
