Today's lineups: Harper returns after bout with virus

MILWAUKEE — The Washington Nationals will wrap up their four-game trip to Milwaukee this afternoon when Gio Gonzalez heads to the mound to make his first career start at Miller Park.

Bryce Harper returned to the starting lineup after missing his first full game since his April 28 call-up with a stomach virus that he’d been struggling with since Thursday. Harper had struggled to keep food down and felt lightheaded during batting practice on Saturday night. 

Neither he nor manager Davey Johnson expected him to miss Sunday’s game, though, and Harper appeared to be in good spirits in the clubhouse Sunday morning. 

– One procedural note: The Nationals unconditionally released outfielder Xavier Nady on Sunday, a procedural move after he was designated for assignment last Saturday. Rick Ankiel was also unconditionally released on Friday in a similar move.
