Nationals announce pitchers for Friday game vs. Georgetown

VIERA, Fla. — The Washington Nationals will open their spring training game slate Friday with an exhibition contest against Georgetown University at Space Coast Stadium.

The Nationals will start left-hander Matt Purke against the Hoyas and he’ll be limited to 40 pitches. Anthony Rendon is also expected to start at third base — his first professional action since being the Nationals first pick in the 2011 draft.

Here are the rest of the pitchers slated to throw in Friday’s game:

Austin Bibens-Dirkx
Rafael Martin
Waldis Joaquin
Jeff Fulchino
Atahualpa Severino

Henry Rodriguez will throw live batting practice in the morning while John Lannan, Chien-Ming Wang and Craig Stammen will all throw bullpens in preparation for their starts on Sunday, March 5.
