TAMPA, Fla. — The Nationals made one lineup tweak on their way to Tampa this morning, swapping the defensive positions of Bryce Harper and Brett Carroll in the outfield.

Harper will make his second start of the spring in center while Carroll, who can play all three outfield positions, moves to right field.

Harper played center Wednesday night in Orlando against the Braves and performed well but was tested minimally. Johnson said at that time he planned to continue trying him out there to improve his versatility and get more experience at the positions.

The Nationals have long been looking for an answer in center field and while Harper has never been considered the leading candidate for that role, he has the capability to play there so the Nationals are exploring that route. For his part, Harper said he loves center and it’s actually his favorite spot in the outfield.

Here’s the revised lineup as we get underway from George Steinbrenner Field:

Ian Desmond SS
Steve Lombardozzi 3B
Mark DeRosa 1B
Wilson Ramos DH
Jesus Flores C
Jason Michaels LF
Brett Carroll RF
Bryce Harper CF
Andres Blanco 2B

Here’s the Yankees lineup vs. Gonzalez:

Robinson Cano 2B
Alex Rodriguez 3B
Mark Teixeira 1B

Raul Ibanez DH
