Lineups and pitchers for Wednesday and Thursday

← return to Nationals Watch

VIERA, Fla. — Things are just about to get underway here in Viera for the Nationals-Cardinals 1 p.m. tilt at Space Coast Stadium. The Cardinals didn’t exactly send their heavy hitters for this one. Daniel Descalso and Jon Jay appear to be the headliners as far as position players go.

There are a few starters with Nationals ties in the lineup, though, with former National Alex Cora hitting eighth and playing shortstop as a non-roster invitee with the Cardinals this spring. Erik Komatsu is also hitting ninth and playing right field. Komatsu could be a guy the Nationals see again. Acquired in the trade for Jerry Hairston Jr. with the Brewers last July, Komatsu was selected by the Carindals in the Rule 5 draft this past December. If he doesn’t stick on their 25-man roster throughout the 2012 season, he’ll be returned to the Nationals organization.

Here are the full lineups for today’s contest, which is a pretty good pitching matchup with Jordan Zimmermann making his first start of the spring against St. Louis’ top prospect Shelby Miller.
