If there’s one man the Nationals’ slow march toward the National League East title might’ve taken the worst toll on the past week, it’s catcher Kurt Suzuki. Suzuki is in the Nationals’ lineup for the 10th straight day as they look to beat the Phillies and clinch the division.
Nationals manager Davey Johnson said Sunday that Suzuki has told him in the past he “wants ‘em all,” so he has no qualms about continuing to run him out there as his No. 1 catcher.
With John Lannan on the mound, the rest of the Nationals’ lineup remains exactly the same. They’ll face Phillies right-hander Kyle Kendrick, who they knocked out in the third inning last week in Philadelphia.
