The National League East pennant already belongs to the Washington Nationals, but there’s one more thing at stake in today’s regular-season finale against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Win and the Nationals clinch the top seed for the postseason and home field advantage. They would start the playoffs on the road Sunday against the winner of the Atlanta Braves-St. Louis Cardinals wild card game.

Lose and the Nationals must wait for the result of tonight’s Cincinnati Reds-St. Louis Cardinals. A Reds win coupled with a Nationals loss gives the Reds the National League’s best record and sends the Nationals to face the San Francisco Giants on Saturday as the No. 2 seed.

Since the Nationals won the season series with the Reds, they hold the tiebreaker if they finish with the same record.
