ST. LOUIS — Good afternoon from sunny Busch Stadium, where the Washington Nationals and St. Louis Cardinals will stick with the same lineups today they used in Game 1.

The Nationals, of course, scratched out a 3-2 win Sunday in the first Major League Baseball postseason game by a Washington team in 79 years.

UPDATE: Davey Johnson and Adam LaRoche, who addressed the media pregame, expressed their confidence in Jordan Zimmermann as the right-hander prepares for today’s start.

“He’s got great presence on the mound,” Johnson said. “He knows he’s got good stuff and he attacks hitters. He’s pitched arguably as good as any guy has all year.

“Sometimes when he’s had too much rest he’s shown a tendency to kind of jump at the higgers, but I think he’s overcome that tendency. I like where he’s at.”

Said LaRoche: “Knowing Jordan and knowing kind of his demeanor and the way he goes about his business, the way he pitches, I don’t think this will affect him. Obviously time will tell on that. But he’s got it together out there. It’s something about him, he’s not scared of anybody; I think we all know that. He’s going right after everybody and I don’t think the game or the situation is going to change his mentality.”
