Nationals-Braves lineups: Steve Lombardozzi gets start in left field

ATLANTA — After his collision with the left field wall Friday night, outfielder Roger Bernadina is dealing with a bit of a stiff neck, Nationals manager Davey Johnson said.

With Michael Morse still nursing a bone bruise and torn sheath in his left wrist, Johnson turned to Steve Lombardozzi to get the start Saturday afternoon against Braves right-hander Tommy Hanson. Morse is still sore, Johnson said, and he said Friday he saw Tuesday as a more realistic goal for Morse’s possible return.

Johnson also pointed out another reason for Lombardozzi to get a shot today.

“(He’s) gotten 50 percent of his home runs off this guy,” Johnson said, breaking into a wide, mischievous grin. Lombardozzi has two home runs.

At any rate, Lombardozzi will hit eighth and the rest of the lineup remained mostly unchanged. Jesus Flores got the start behind the plate, giving Kurt Suzuki a day off. Bernadina is available off the bench.
