Saturday night’s 10-9 loss against the St. Louis Cardinals left Nationals’ right fielder Jayson Werth cramping and first baseman Adam LaRoche exhausted.

Manager Davey Johnson said last night that Werth “didn’t pull nothing” but left him out of Sunday’s lineup nonetheless. LaRoche, who described last night’s game as “long, humid [and] draining,” has been given the day off.

Stephen Strasburg will take the mound for the Nationals in what will likely be one of his last starts at Nationals Park this season. The Cardinals will trot out Jake Westbrook, who is looking to recover from his worst outing of the season last Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He surrendered seven runs over five innings in the 9-0 loss.
