Michael Morse is out of the Washington Nationals’ lineup for the team’s finale Monday afternoon with the Milwaukee Brewers.

Morse, who has dealt with issues with both his hands and wrists the last six weeks, missed four games last week with a torn sheath and bone bruise in his left wrist. He got treatment on one of his hands after Sunday’s loss, manager Davey Johnson said, though he was unsure which one was giving Morse the most recent trouble.

“I’m not really 100 percent sure,” Johnson said. “I know he came into the training room after the game he was having trouble with his hand. I think he was looking forward to getting a shot or something so I’m just going to stay off of him.”

Presumably, Morse will see Nationals medical director Wiemi Douoguih at some point on Monday to get a little more clarity on what’s going on. Johnson considered double-switching with Morse on Sunday afternoon but Morse told him he was feeling fine. He received treatment after the game.

Johnson was unsure how long he’d be without his slugging left fielder. Roger Bernadina took his place in Monday’s game.

“There is no sense in being a hero, but a lot of guys aren’t going to tell you,” Johnson said. “I’m going to still ask if they have something that seems to be bothering them or if they complain after the game.”
