Chien-Ming Wang has been hanging around the Washington Nationals in recent days, and on Tuesday the team officially activated the right-hander from the disabled list.
Wang, whose career has been derailed by injuries since 2008, has made more minor league rehab starts (21) than ones in the majors (15) in the past two seasons with the Nats.
Re-signed to a one-year deal worth $4 million plus incentives, Wang has been bothered by a right hip strain. He’s 4-6 with a 5.51 ERA in 15 minor league starts in 2012.
Barring injuries or a spot start, Wang is expected to be used exclusively out of the bullpen for the remainder of the season.
