Dan Haren’s first start in a Washington Nationals uniform did not go the way the veteran right-hander had hoped. In allowing four home runs in four innings, as part the Nationals’ 15-0 loss to the Cincinnati Reds on Friday night, Haren was unable to make the type of first impression he or the Nationals were looking for.

But the great thing about it happening in his first start of the season is that Haren has plenty of time to redeem himself.

He’ll get his first opportunity on Thursday night in the Nationals’ series finale against the White Sox as they look to extend their home winning streak to six games and go for the sweep.

Haren is 2-1 with a 3.53 ERA in six starts against the White Sox in his career.
