CINCINNATI — Dan Haren last pitched nine days ago, under the sun in Jupiter, Fla. and in an atmosphere that was likely very different than the one he will step into at Great American Ball Park this evening.

It will be very interesting to see Haren in a regular season format, and to see how he does with such a long layoff between starts. He did throw an extended bullpen session on Monday, and he has thrown three bullpens since he last pitched in a game.

For the Nationals, their lineup is steady, save for the alternating at catcher. Kurt Suzuki will start Friday.

In his career, Haren is 2-2 with a 4.28 ERA against the Reds.
