CINCINNATI — With nine days since his last Grapefruit League start, Washington Nationals left-hander Ross Detwiler will take the mound at Great American Ball Park Saturday afternoon for his 2013 debut.

With three of the Reds’ first five batters hitting left-handed, Detwiler may be in a more advantageous position to face them than perhaps right-hander Dan Haren was on Friday night.

Manager Davey Johnson said who is the lineup on the other side mattered not to him.

“I like the way Det matches up against just about anybody,” Johnson said Saturday morning. “He’s had (nine) days off, that’s a little bit tough, but he’ll give it a shot.”

Adam LaRoche is out of today’s lineup with a stiff back.
