One day after he was preparing for a doubleheader in Double-A Harrisburg, Rendon took a cab from Manhattan to Citi Field with veteran Chad Tracy.     The Washington Nationals placed Ryan Zimmerman on the 15-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain Saturday evening and used the opportunity to temporarily replace their franchise cornerstone with 22-year-old top prospect Anthony Rendon -- the man who may one day replace him at third base.   • Nationals - Mets lineups: Ryan Zimmerman (hamstring) out again

    Ryan Zimmerman was not in the lineup for the second straight day on Saturday as the Nationals and the Mets get set to play a mid-afternoon matinee. Zimmerman, who has been dealing with a cramp in his left hamstring for the last several days, was sent for an MRI on the area to determine the severity of the issue.     Danny Espinosa, who took grounders during batting practice on Wednesday and took full batting practice on Friday, has not played since getting hit as he's worked with the training staff to reduce the swelling and pain in the wrist area.   • Battling illness, Bryce Harper turns in 4-for-5 night in win over Marlins

    Hit with some sort of a stomach ailment, Bryce Harper spent the better of Tuesday trying to keep food down. He did more of the same on Wednesday, taking intravenous fluids before the Nationals' 6-1 victory over the Marlins to help hydrate his body weakened by a lack of nutrients. During the second inning, he said he vomited. Swinging at the plate made his head spin. On the basepaths, he hunched over several times. Harper was 4-for-5 Wednesday night with a double and three singles, including an infield one he beat out. Published April 18 2013

    Wednesday night, in seven strong innings that led the Nationals to a 6-1 victory over the Miami Marlins, Ross Detwiler showed yet again why the No. 5 starter designation is simply a formality when it comes to him.     Ryan Zimmerman fielded Placido Polanco's routine ground ball Tuesday night like he has so many others in his career at third base for the Washington Nationals.
