Wilson Ramos, who has been out since May 15 with a left hamstring strain, moved his rehab assignment to Single-A Potomac on Monday night and is nearing his return to the Nationals’ active roster.
Ramos is expected to catch seven innings for Potomac on Monday and, if all goes well, he will catch nine innings for them on Tuesday night.
Ramos could then take his rehab assignment to Triple-A Syracuse, which will be in Lehigh Valley, on Wednesday. Manager Davey Johnson is hopeful that Ramos will then be ready to return to the Nationals by Thursday, July 4.
Outside of second baseman Danny Espinosa, who was optioned to the minor leagues last month, when Ramos returns the Nationals will have the rest of their Opening Day lineup together and healthy for the first time since April 14.
