DETROIT — The Washington Nationals, fresh off ending their homestand with four wins in five games, return to the American League Tuesday night to open a quick two-game set with the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park. This is the Nationals’ first visit to Detroit since June of 2010. 

So here the pre-season World Series favorites meet. The Tigers hold a 2 1/2 game lead over the Indians in the American League Central, and a seven game lead of the Kansas City Royals. The Nationals enter the day nine games behind the Atlanta Braves in the National League East.

With the addition of the DH for these two games, the Nationals have slotted Chad Tracy in for some regular at-bats on Tuesday night.

Stephen Strasburg will pitch for the Nationals against former NL East foe Anibal Sanchez.
