PHILADELPHIA — The Washington Nationals will send Gio Gonzalez to the mound tonight looking to break a somewhat unbelievable streak for the left-hander. While Gonzalez has a 2.12 ERA over his last eight starts, he has not won a single one of them — and the Nationals have not won any of his last four.

The Nationals need a win tonight to avoid continuing that miserable stretch.


They also need a win to avoid being swept by the Phillies, falling three games under .500 for the first time this season, and earning sole possession of third place. 

So, suffice it to say, the Nationals need to win.
