Jayson Werth was scratched from the Nationals’ lineup on Saturday morning, and the team did not give an immediate reason for his absence.

UPDATE: Manager Davey Johnson said after the Nationals’ 7-1 loss to the Colorado Rockies that Werth was suffering from flu-like symptoms and had the chills.

Roger Bernadina, who was originally slated to play left field and hit seventh, moved to right field and will hit sixth. Steve Lombardozzi will play left field against Rockies starter Jhoulys Chacin.

Manager Davey Johnson said that Werth was visiting with specialist Dr. Keith Pyne, a doctor based out of New York with whom Werth has consulted in the past, but asked what the doctor may have been working on with Werth, Johnson said it was a little bit of everything.

“I think he’s alright (with regard to the hamstring),” Johnson said. “I think he’s fine. I think this game’s 90 percent mental. Anything you do in life, if you have the right mental approach to it, it’s easier. I like to see good mental approaches and good, positive attitudes. That’s the root of success in any business. Really, in baseball, you can talk yourself into a good hitting streak.”

More information on Werth as it is available.
