The stock of right-hander Taylor Jordan continues to rise as the Nationals prospect was the organization’s only selection to Major League Baseball’s Futures Game next month in New York.
Jordan, who is the safe bet to be called up from Double-A to start for the Nationals’ major league team on Saturday at Citi Field against the Mets, has been dominating the Eastern League this season.
Last year, right-hander Alex Meyer was selected to the game to represent the Nationals and in 2011, it was Bryce Harper who was chosen. Harper, of course, was then selected to the National League All-Star team in 2012 during his Rookie of the Year season.
Jordan, a 2009 draftee, has been one of the Nationals’ brightest spots in the farm system this season.
As their search for top-level starting pitching depth goes on, he is likely to become their next major league starter this season.
