NEW YORK — Taylor Jordan wore jeans, a black polo shirt and an ear-to-ear smile this morning when he strolled into the visitors clubhouse at Citi Field. The big right-handed Nationals prospect took in the scene around him, met a few of his teammates, spoke with manager Davey Johnson and then set about preparing to become a major leaguer.

Because Jordan will be making his debut, Johnson decided to play catcher Kurt Suzuki in order to help guide Jordan through the start. Suzuki, who has been dealt an extremely heavy workload since Wilson Ramos went down with injury on May 15, played all nine innings in the Nationals’ 6-4 victory over the Mets on Friday night — which ended roughly 12 hours before players reported to the clubhouse on Saturday.


Jordan is a sinkerballer, who also has a good changeup and a slider.
