Washington Nationals manager Davey Johnson was out near second base during batting practice on Wednesday, watching closely as Anthony Rendon and Jeff Kobernus took grounders and made double play turns.

Rendon got the start at second on Wednesday, one day after he was recalled to take the place of the injured Danny Espinosa on the roster.

Espinosa visited with hand specialist Dr. Ken Means in Baltimore on Wednesday. He had MRIs done on his fractured right wrist, as well as the torn rotator cuff in his left shoulder. But the Nationals were not ready to share the results of those tests.

“We’re not going to share anything until we have a full assessment of his health,” said Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo.
