VIERA, Fla. — It’s a cold, windy day here at Space Coast Stadium as Ross Detwiler takes the mound for his final start with the Nationals before joining Team USA for the World Baseball Classic. Detwiler will pitch for Team USA on March 9, following Ryan Vogelsong to the mound.

But first he’ll face the St. Louis Cardinals with what looks very much like an Opening Day lineup working behind him.

Ryan Zimmerman, rehabbing from offseason shoulder surgery, will get his first game action of the spring as he serves as the DH, and Wilson Ramos will likely debut as well, taking over as DH after Zimmerman get three at-bats.

A few other notes from the morning:

– Henry Rodriguez is scheduled to throw live batting practice on Tuesday, March 5, and the hope is he’ll be able to get in a game on March 8. Manager Davey Johnson will take things very slow with Rodriguez, who is recovering from August elbow surgery, and may even only have him face one batter when he does get in a game.

– Micah Owings got a cortisone shot in his wrist last week and he is still technically in the “unable” to perform category, Johnson said. Owings did play catch with outfielder Corey Brown on the field about an hour before gametime on Sunday.

– Eury Perez will leave for the WBC on Monday as well, joining Team Dominican Republic in Tampa and then heading to Puerto Rico for the first round of the tournament. Perez was added to the Dominican roster on Saturday.
