CLEARWATER, Fla. — Not many Washington Nationals regulars made the two-and-a-half hour trek to Bright House Field for today’s 1:05 p.m. game with the Philadelphia Phillies.

There’s Denard Span leading off. And semi-regulars Steve Lombardozzi and Tyler Moore will play. Stephen Strasburg is on the mound.

Otherwise, prospects and backups are the order of the day.

— Strasburg is slotted to throw 60 pitches. He and Gio Gonzalez have given pitching coach Steve McCatty a hard time, manager Davey Johnson said, because their spring starts have come on the road so far.

— Henry Rodriguez threw live batting practice Tuesday, used all his pitches and didn’t report any problems. The next step in his return will be a one-batter appearance in a game later this week.

— Micah Owings, fighting an injured left wrist, was cleared to hit Tuesday and Johnson expects him to get a couple of at-bats today.

— Following Strasburg, Fernando Abad, Erik Davis, Cole Kimball and Yunesky Maya are scheduled to pitch.
