It’s another good day for scoring at Congressional, and a few golfers are taking advantage of the favorable conditions. Rod Pampling, who had top-20 finishes in this tournament each of the past two years, has carded seven birdies and one bogey through 15 holes to give him a share of second at 9-under. Lucas Glover has also continued his hot play, shooting a scorching 30 on the back nine including birdies on the last four holes. He’s currently playing the front nine, and his 6-under mark is tied for fifth.
Glover’s playing partner, Tiger Woods, overcame a 5 on the par-4 11th for the second consecutive day and has birdies four of his last seven holes to pull even with Pampling. The streaky Paul Goydos is having a nice recovery from his opening-round 73, posting a 31 on the front nine to jump 71 spots on the leaderboard and comfortably inside the cut line.
Not everyone has been able to capitalize, though. After a bogey-free 65 yesterday, Steve Elkington is going in reverse, with no birdies en route to a 5-over through 12 start. He played the back nine first.
Anthony Kim will tee off in a little under two hours at 12:50 p.m.
