A $14 billion bailout for automakers died in the Senate after the autoworkers union rejected Republican demands for wage concessions, S.A. Miller is reporting.

Earlier, the Republicans had said they would block passage of the bill, citing a sense of “bailout fatigue” among the general public.

Bailout fatigue? I didn’t know that the federal government responded to things that fatigue us.

If that’s the case, I hope they do something about my “tax fatigue.” And I know a lot of people suffering from “layoff fatigue.” And while they’re at it, let’s take a look at this “war fatigue” too.

I’m fatigued just thinking about it.
