Retail bankruptcies loom on horizon

Retailers such as Ann Taylor, Sears and Talbots are expected to soon join the bankruptcy ranks that Sharper Image, Circuit City and others created in 2008, David Dickson is reporting.

A thousand years from now, archeologists sifting through the artifacts of our society will come across a cornerstone bearing an inscription that will describe our retail philosophy.  It will read:

One store to rule them all

One store to bind them

One store to bring them all

And in the recession bind them

— Wal-Mart
