Court allows Sarkozy voodoo dolls

A French appeals court has shot down French President Nicolas Sarkozy’s attempt to ban the sale of voodoo dolls bearing his likeness, the International Herald Tribune is reporting.

Some observers said that Sarkozy had sought to block the sales not because the dolls resemble him or because he believes in voodoo (which he does not) but because he does not think grownups should play with dolls.

The appellate judges — each of whom apparently had a Sarkozy doll — disagreed.
