Or their interest in Gordon Brown’s challenge of Tony Blair for British prime minister?

No? Don’t worry about, because there wasn’t much U.S. interest in those European contests.

But everybody in the world is tuning into our presidential election, Jennifer Harper reports.

So buck up, people. Our economy might be weakened, our military might be depleted, we might be fighting two land wars in Asia, and our manufacturing industries might be flagging, but we still matter to the world.

Maybe because of all those things in the preceding sentence.
