I see that economist Paul Krugman, a columnist for the New York Times, has won the Nobel Prize for economics.

I didn’t know that columnists could win the Nobel Prize for anything, but now that I do, I’m going for it.

People have been wondering what is the cause of the fall in the stock market.

Many have speculated that it is the mortgage crisis; others have speculated that is the credit crisis. Still others have speculated that it is speculation itself.

Well, my friends, I have deduced the answer, and it’s been right under our noses the entire time. I hereby submit my answer to the Nobel committee.

The cause of the fall in the stock market?

One word: Gravity.
