Counting words

← return to Out of Context

The presidential campaigns are taking shots at each for the other candidate’s failure to use certain words and phrases during their debate Friday night.

Hmmm.

I’ve been doing some word counting and discovered that neither candidate used any of the following words in delineating their foreign policy ideas: yellow cake, pizza, frequent flyer or chess.

And they failed to use any of these terms in describing their defense goals: smackdown, head-knocking, glitter or “let’s rumble.”

Are not trying to tell us something?

I hope that in the next two debates the candidates will avail themselves of buzzwords and catchphrases so that we can better understand their positions.

We’ll be watching. And listening.

And counting.
