A spokesman for President-elect Barack Obama has told the San Francisco Chronicle that Obama will end the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy that bars gays from serving openly in the armed forces.

“Don’t ask, don’t tell,” which was instituted 15 years ago by President Clinton, will be replaced by an Obama policy called “I’m OK, you’re OK, let’s fight.”

Considering all of the Clinton-era holdovers in the upcoming Obama administration, it’s a little odd that this should be the first to go.
