A former royal protection officer accused of running a Ponzi scheme says his coworkers played poker and sold porn while on duty at Buckingham Palace, the Daily Telegraph is reporting.

Paul Page said during his trial that his fellow guards had “an easy life” via gambling and pornography on duty. Page, who is accused of bilking about $5 million from investors, said he wanted the court to understand the culture of the his job.

So this guy defends himself against swindling charges by saying that his colleagues are inveterate gamblers and porn merchants? I think he just added some charges against himself.

You know, I’ve always been suspicious of those palace guards. You can’t stand that still for that long without being up to something.
